Service was slow as we had to wait for a teppanyaki chef. Our server was super sweet and kind and when our chef, Dart, finally arrived - his humor and engagement with our table made up for the wait. We enjoyed the entertaining cooking while we ate and had drinks. This was a perfect restaurant for us since it was at HHV where we were staying for our trip. Very convenient to walk over just a bit long of a wait.

The prices are very high for a Teppanyaki place, but this located in the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, so it explains the prices. They do offer fois gras, but the rest of the menu is standard fare. You can get better food at another well known Teppanyaki place just down the road. The service is good, ambiance is festive.

This is located within the Hilton Hawaii village, so parking is going to be basically nonexistent. I imagine most people who come here are staying in one of the hotels nearby. We made a reservation for 12 on 4th of July (Thursday). Reservations were easy to make online and available. They seat you with other groups, if there are enough people booked and your group is small. That may be annoying if you are seated with irritating people, but our table buddies were nice. We had our drink orders taken promptly and looked through the menu, which is extensive. On the pricer side, which is to be expected for the area and type of food. They start you with a basic salad which had a ginger dressing that I didn't love (I'm not a fan of ginger though). Our chef, Jet, then got to work. He was very nice and funny and attentive. It was dinner and a show! Our toddler was entertained the whole time. Portions were good and I was full by the end. We ordered the kids chicken (which Jet cut up nice and small for our toddler without us even asking), the beef teriyaki, and the ahi steak. We also upgraded to chicken fried rice. All of that came along with bean sprouts, zucchini, onions, and a shrimp appetizer. Oh and a scoop of ice cream (several flavors to choose from). There was also a ginger sauce and mustard sauce, both of which I actually liked. Overall, the beef teriyaki was tender but slightly lacking in flavor, I wish the zucchini was cooked more as I like it softer, and the fried rice needed more salt. The ahi steak and chicken were great. I do feel like the cost was worth it for the quantity and quality of food and the experience. We will definitely be returning!

Came here on a whim with my family and needless to say we had a blast! We ended up getting Logan as our cook/chef and he was so friendly and funny! While the wait to get seated was a bit long, the friendly conversation with Logan and the other staff members made up for it. Overall we would come back again! 9/10 Would Recommend :)

This spot was super cool, but I do recommend a reservation or coming before dinner crowd because it gets busy! But hey that means the food is good right? Honestly, I thought it was really good for the price. They serve you a complimentary salad with your meal which had a nice miso dressing I believe, it was yummy. I had a great experience, just make sure you have some patience when they are busy! Sorry for not including meal photos, I was too hungry

We made reservations for our anniversary and we were very happy! The entire staff was super friendly and welcoming. The dining area was clean and well maintained. We were seated promptly and even given a table for just us (it wasn't super busy). The drinks were fantastic! We tried a Lava Colada and a Mai Tai and they were both fantastic. Our Chef was skilled and did a great job of entertaining as well as making good conversation. Lobster and shrimp were fantastic, scallops were cooked perfectly and very tender. An amazing dinner all around. We'll definitely be going back when were in the area again. Highly recommended!

This was my first time at Aoki, but not my first Teppenyaki in Honolulu. We had a reservation on 17 Feb for dinner and there was no issues with that. Arrived a bit early and was seated immediately. The menu was pretty straightforward but the prices seemed a bit higher than other comparable teppenyaki spots and their competitors. From other reviews and pictures from 7 months ago, their flagship special price went from $250 to now $500, however their other specials did not double in price. Our server, Kelly, was great and very pleasant. She kept our waters filled, but none in our party received the advertised green tea. Apparently none of us wanted the tea because none of us asked for the tea. The ambiance was nice and noisy (it is a teppenyaki place after all). All the plates seemed to be hand crafted and painted. No issues with cleanliness of glasses or plates and all the chopsticks are single serve wooden chopsticks. The food and flavors were pretty standard and predictable for a teppenyaki place. Collectively we added several add ins, to include shrimp, scallops, and squid. The squid was probably our favorite as it was a nice thick slab that our chef cooked to perfection. The grill itself probably is not set high enough to get a proper sear on the scallops, but they were still cooked well, not overdone and dry. As other reviewers mentioned, they did have a Our chef was the standout and the MVP. his name is Jet and incredibly he remembered me from when he cooked for me and my fiance 7 years ago when he worked at Kobe. We talked story and how things have been and how things have gone in the intervening 7 years. I wanted to buy him a beer because it was almost like find a lost friend. We average going to a teppenyaki place once a year when family visit from the mainland. We have been to Tanaka of Tokyo more times than I can count. The only reason I can imagine coming back to Aoki is for a table with Jet as our chef.

Family dinner here was very enjoyable. We arrived early with reservations so no waiting. Reservations had been made earlier that day. Our server was very attentive. She brought out our drinks promptly and made sure we had water throughout the meal. Our chef Chen was very engaging and made the meal so pleasant. We engaged in quite a bit of conversation with him and he seemed to enjoy that. I had a non alcoholic Mango Coloda which was very yummy! Family members enjoyed their alcoholic drinks as well. The salmon I had was superb!!! Very very fresh and cooked just right. I would definitely return to this establishment if ever I make it back to O'ahu!
